Jodi Murphy, NCMG, MPS owns and operates the Puppy Spa Mobile GroomingSalon in New Jersey. Jodi was a past team member of Groom Team USA for four years consistently ranking within the top four groomers in the United States. She has been a multiple Best In Show as well as Best All Around Competitor and was awarded Best American Groomer in 2005 and 2006 at Intergroom. Jodi captured the World Championship title in the prestigious Oster Invitational Tournament of Champions in 2006. In the International contest ring, she won both gold and bronze medals in Barcelona, Spain in 2003 and also captured another gold medal in 2007 in Milan, Italy. After achieving all her goals in the contest ring she is now here to share her years of knowledge and experience. She has produced the most complete Instructional DVD Series for all levels of grooming used in grooming schools throughout the United States and Canada. Day 1 Jodi will discuss with you the theory of shedding which goes back to the basics of skin and coat. She uses a technique that will bring your short coats and double coats back begging for more. Watch Jodi use her de-shedding techniques in person on a German Shepherd. Snap On Combs: Theory & Techniques Using snap on combs will save you so much time from unnecessary scissoring. Combs can wreak havoc on your trims if they are not used properly. Let Jodi demonstrate different techniques that will help you get your dogs done in a timely manner. Learn when to use a blade as opposed to using a comb attachment. Understanding coat texture will help you decide which tool to use. Scissoring: Theory & Techniques With so many shears on the market it is so hard to decide which one is right for you. Jodi will explore the world of shears. She will talk about blade lengths, shank styles, different metals as well as blade edges. Jodi will demonstrate how to improve your scissoring skills, show you the proper way to hold your shears and techniques that will enhance your grooming skills. |
Day 2 Thinning Shears: Theory & Techniques Thinning Shears are probably the most difficult tool to buy. Do you know what you are looking at when buying a shear? Jodi will discuss the different teeth configurations and how they perform on different coat types. She will demonstrate blending, bulking, softening and lift layering techniques on several different breeds. In and Out With Style Being a mobile groomer, Jodi has learned all the tricks to get her dogs done quickly without loosing the quality of her work. Topics discussed in this power point presentation will help you to become an efficient groomer. Jodi will share with you some of her favorite stylized trims and will help you get your clients on regular grooming schedules. Mixing It Up Do you ever just wonder what to do with those mixed breeds that come into your shop? It can be very easy to get stuck in a rut and never step out of the box when it comes to putting style on these dogs. Let Jodi show you how to capture the expression of these breeds in this demonstration giving them personality.
